What is an IDE driver?

Please explain this to me surrounded by a nutshell....and how would I know if I had one?

What is an IDE driver?

Let me explain what a driver is. It's software program that allows hardware components to communicate next to each other within this case, the system board of the computer.

IDE is an interface to be precise used mainly for storage devices, similar to harddrives and CD drives.

So to put it adjectives together, an IDE drive is software that allows the interface that connects a hard drive and/or a compact disc drive to communicate with the computer

IDE drivers are usually found within the Operating System's system files
It is a type of driver for an IDE device, IDE just refers to how it connects to your motherboard. Most Hard drives and cd/dvd drives use this. It is awfully unlikely unless you have a custom made computer that you use excluding IDE.
It is a driver which uses pre-fetch algorithm to occupy other system memory n thereby increase harddisk performance
