What is overclocking ?

how do you overclock the Video card, processor ? I own a nVIDIA FX 5500 and Pentium IV 2.4GHz . Plz explain in detail.

What is overclocking ?

If your running a proprietary system your likelihood of overclocking the system are slim to none in BIOS since most of the time those features are locked out. But within anycase Look for a program from nVidia called NTune. Since it sounds close to your a bit new at this use the fine tune part. It works pretty well and will overclock not solely the video card but the system automatically. If you cant use nTune, look up a program called coolbits. All the information you stipulation can be found on the internet,in detail, step by step.

A word to the astute though, if your not using an aftermarket cooling solution you could burn up a processor or a GPU. If your looking at getting more performance out of your video card I would recommend purchasing a newer one previously you started overclocking. the FX 5500 is a bit dated. I was running one going on for 2 years ago, it was a great card but it purely couldnt handle the games I be looking to play.
overclocking is testing the speed of a prossor or video card budge to www.webopedia.com they have a great def of waht your looking for
definition of this can be found here via this knit -->

I'm a bit of noob in the Hardware nouns. But here is my understanding of overclocking. Overclocking the the process contained by which you increase the speed/performance of something be it your processor or graphics card beyond that of A, the recommend level for the product or B what it is set at. I don't enjoy an idea how to overclock your processor but your graphics card self Nvidea should already have an overclocking chance if not do a explore in google for overclocking software for your card.
